The end of the year! Bye 2020…hello 2021!

As we wind down to the end of the year, I like to reflect on the books that I have read this year. Later on, I will be putting the top books that I read this year on my blog. My goal this year is 130 which is a lot less than 2019 at 140 books. This year was especially hard on me. My 2020 was bad.

In January, I was at a job that I hated. I ended up quitting in Febrary with no job or unemployment. I got a job offer in April but had to wait to start it until June because of the pandemic. It was very worrisome as I had to start within 3 months of the offer or I would lose that job. During the pandemic, I had to watch my nephew as his school was cancelled due to COVID-19 (it all worked out me being off so I could be with my 8 year old nephew). Then I started my new job in June (right on the deadline). But as the pandemic raged on, my family members either was losing their jobs, had COVID-19 and were VERY sick, trying to protect older family members, and then the election. Needless to say, this year was TOUGH. My stress levels have been a roller coaster ride all year. Thankfully, I had this blog, reading, and support from my family throughout. I am sure that everyone’s stories about 2020 are similar to mine. I do have a lot to be thankful for though- finding a job, my health, etc.

I hope that 2021 is different for everyone out there. I work for a place that assists people with applying and finding jobs. I have seen the impact COVID-19 has on the job market. Needless to say, I think we are in another crazy year coming up. Stay safe, Book Nerds!

Now on to better news….In the next 2 weeks, I will have my favorite books of the year as well as a wrap up of this year. I have 5 more books to finish before Christmas! I am currently reading “The Christmas Carol,” “Ember in the Ashes,” “Malibu Rising,” “A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow,” and “The Edge of Falling.” I have them all planned to finish before Jan 1.

Happy reading, Book Nerds!
