Review of “Happiness for Beginners” by Katherine Center

5 star review! WOW! Katherine Center is becoming my favorite author! I laugh, I cry, I smile at her ending every single novel that is written by Center!

Basically, a woman who just divorced decides to “re-group” by going on a wilderness hike with a hiking tour. This is not a hiking trip for beginners though and she has never hiked before. She discovers that a man, a friend of her younger brother, is on the same trip. He has had a secret crush on her for years. As the trip goes on, she struggles with not only the hike but also her emotional baggage. Sone of the hikers tries to teach her to think of 3 positive things that happened to her every day. At 1st it is a struggle for her. Towards the end of the trip, she learns a lot about herself and the others in her life.

I actually practice writing down 3 good things about my day to “re-wire” my brain to be happier. I really enjoyed reading her journey to happiness. Last year, I literally did the exact same thing with my life. The ending of this novel is right where I am at in my life right now!  Needless to say, the novel spoke to a lot of my own personal growth and journey!

I could NOT put this book down. I paused all my other novels just to read more of this book! Once again, Katherine Center’s characters are relatable and you “root” for them throughout the novel. Her writing really put me in the woods with her. I love a book that can put me through all kinds of emotions! I laughed, cried, yelled at the main character to open her eyes, etc. I cannot wait to read more books by Katherine Center in the future!
