Review of “The Love Hypothesis” by Ali Hazelwood

Overall:  4.5 out of 5 stars

Summary of Review:

A cute rom-com with adorable characters! I could not get enough of this book!

Summary:

In her busy 3rd year in the PhD program, Olive is single. Who can blame her with all the work she has to keep up with in this program? Her best friend wants her to be with someone. So Olive has to convince her that she is dating someone. She sees her best friend and panics… she grabs the nearest guy and kisses him. Afterwards, she realizes that she kissed, Adam. He is the mean professor that no one likes. They both decide that it is to their benefit to pretend to date. It would get her best friend off her back, but also help the university think that Adam is not a flight risk and provide him funding.

My Thoughts:

I loved the fact that this novel has a woman in the science field. But the setting for a rom-com novel is rarely set at an university. That was refreshing!

I loved the dialogue between the characters. That witty banter between all the characters was so fun to read! I loved the nerdy jokes too! You can see the Star Wars Easter eggs throughout between the names and even the cover of the novel!

The writing was also great. I never expected to like a debut novel as much as this one. But I will be reading more of her books in the future!

This has been a typical trope for a rom-com lately. The “fake relationship” from hate to love. But…. The characters were so well-developed and liked, I looked past it. I almost did not buy this book. I am VERY glad that I did though.

Conclusion:

If you want a cute romance with adorable characters…. This is 100% the book for you!
