Traditional– made out of cardstock or paper; they come in different styles and shapes; can have decorative tassels or beads. (Can also be called Tassel); Can also be charazcter themed and made of PVC or other materials.
Magnetic– Maganets inside that clip around the page
Fabric– Made of cloth, ribbon, or felt; can have decorative tassels or beads.
Metal– Durable and often have designs on them; typically made out of stainless steel and brass
Digital– Web browsers and e-readers aloows users to mark a webpage or e-book
See through– These are made of plastic and have the effects that you can see through them; common ones are stained glass, ghosts, etc.
Metal shaped- These are made of metal and shaped like swords or Wizard wands
Embroidered– These are made on a sewing machine into designs; fabric
Elastic Band– stretchy bands that wrap around the entire book with a small section of it to mark the page
Corner– they can slip onto the corner of the page; small and triangle
Customized/Personal– Names, quotes, or designs for the particular reader; can also be things commonly found inside the home like concert tickets, customized artwork, photos, etc.
3D– raised or sculpted designs; minature objects or figures attached to them
Digital– Apps like “Pocket” or Evernote that allow users to save the web articles, notes, or pages
Clip– Usually metal or plastic and clip onto the page like a paperclip; Can be binder clips
Leather– Made from leather; durable and smooth; embossed leather is also an option (made with premuim leather
Resin– These are made by encasing designs or objects like flowers or glitter in clear resin.
Wooden– thin, flat pieces of wood sometimes engraved or painted with designs
Ribbon– A simple ribbon that lays between pages
Felt– Solt and flexible
Digital Voice– Used in audio formats; allowing you to mark a part of the audiobook
LED– These come with a built-in light
Page counter/Timer– These come with a built in timer or page counter
Interactive– these have a QR code of NFC chips enbedded in them that lead to digital content
Pinch– “pinch” the pages with spring loaded arms
Puzzle Piece– shaped like a puzzle piece that fit together; a fun way to track progress through a series
Magnetic Ribbon– A combo between Magnetic with a ribbon attached
Sticky notes– use of arrow sticky notes to hold your page or post-it notes
Fold-over Page Tab– Similar to sticky notes, these are thin and fold over the edge of your page; does not damage the book
Origami– folded paper in various shapes but often resemble corner bookmarks; sometimes they come out of the book and create a shape
Erasable– Made with a special surface material that lets you write temporary notes or reminders on paper and can be erased
Calendar– Durable as a small calendar to help you keep track of the date while marking your place
Tracking– used as a tracker for the progress of your reading; can keep track of how many books you have read for a set amount of time or keep track of the book you are reading
Cheat sheet– It has a list of characters, plot, themes of the book you are reading
Multi-page– Designed to hold multiple pages at once (I do this to know what page I want to read to finish my library books on time)
Glow in the dark– made with material that glows
Sliding tab– Tab or slider to mark certain lines or sections
Cord– A long cord with beads or charm; usually drapes over the spine of the book
Scented– infused with scents
Dog earred- some people are monsters and just dog ears their pages (drives me up the wall to see library books with dog earred pages)
3D traditional– Part of the bookmark is 3d and the other half fits into your book like normal
Silicone– Flexible and durable; made of silicon and are resistant to water, wear and tear
Adjustable arrow– Features an arrow or indicator that you can slide up and down the page to point to the exact line or paragraph that you stopped at
Braided string– Made of woven or braided yarn, thread, string, etc.
Thumb– Small tools that fit onto your thumb allowing you to hold the book open to a page while reading hands free
