Review of “People We Meet On Vacation” by Emily Henry

Overall:
 5 /5 Stars

Summary of review:

What a great read! I wish that I would have read this book sooner than I did! I loved it! Emily Henry did it again!

Summary:

Poppy and Alex! The are an unlikely pair of friends from a small town in Ohio. Poppy is a city girl at heart and wild- Alex is a small town guy who is reserved. Every summer, they take a vacation together. One summer, they came home from a trip to Croatia, and never talked again for two years.

One day Poppy is thinking about what makes her happy- and one name comes to her mind, Alex. She texts him after not speaking to him for 2 years. And he agrees to go on a vacation with her. She has a week on the vacation to fix their friendship. You get pieces of past vacations as well as trying to figure out why they quit speaking to each other.

My thoughts:

I loved this book a lot. The characters were all great. I loved them all. I even liked Alex’s ex girlfriend a lot! I love the opposites attract story lines especially when the two are right for each other. I cheered for them to get together the entire time.

The writing was wonderful. I just could not put this book down. I had to know what was going to happen.

The final reveal of the reason why they were not talking for 2 years was a let down though. I felt like their friendship as it were would have withstood something so minor. Also, the author built up that trip with flashbacks and Poppy thinking about it often. I thought that maybe Alex told Poppy off about how she lived her life or something else happened.

Conclusion:

I could not put this book down. I thought the characters were likeable, they love story felt real to me, etc. I laughed a little at their vacation misfortunes and swooned over the romance in the story.
