Hello to all the fellow Book Nerds out there! Welcome to my blog! You can check out any of the books that I have read and reviewed at https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/21505634-kassy-macpherson
Let me introduce my blog by telling you a little bit about myself! My name is Kassy, and I started my love of reading when I was in the 1st grade. I saw a book at the book fair called “The Last Unicorn” by Peter Beagle. It was a chapter book, and I was just beginning to learn how to read. My teacher told me that I had a lot of reading to do in order to be able to read that particular book. I started reading everything that I could read with the hopes that I would be able to read it one day. I became obsessed (putting it mildly) with learning to read in order to read that one book. I never did read that book until my 20s (this was before you could just order a book online). But I feel as though this book changed the course of my life forever. It had me read so many books starting at a young age, to my decision on what to major in during college. Speaking of college, I majored in Secondary Education English so that I could be paid to read and talk about books!
As of today, reading defines who I am! Reading is part of every single day. I know that what I am about to say is cliché, but reading has taken me to places all over the world. I have been in the past and future. I have experienced other cultures and experienced things while sitting on my couch in Pennsylvania. I have been to space, other countries, and even to the zombie apocalypse. I have been many people and experienced good and bad things through my life in books. It is a way to, for an hour each day, to be someone else or learn/experience something new.
So naturally sharing my adventures in a blog will be second nature to me. I have always enjoyed discussing books. I discussed books in a book club, social media, in a classroom, and with just friends. Now I want to discuss books, reading, and just everything else in between with you in a blog! I want to take you along with me with my adventures in reading!
Let me now tell you a little more about my reading! Currently I average about 150 to 200 books a year. I read at least 4-7 at once. I enjoy all genres and love to try new books that push my comfort zone! I thoroughly enjoy Rom-coms, general fiction, literary fiction, New Adult, Young Adult, poetry, Romance (not cheesy romance novels), Historical Fiction, Celebrity Book Club picks (especially Reese Witherspoon), Women’s Fiction, Graphic Novels, Mysteries/Thrillers, LGBTQIA, True Crime, Humor, SClassics, Contemporary, Short story Collections, and Dystopias/Utopias. I have been known to read and enjoy Memoirs and Sci-fi and/or Cli-fi (do not tell my husband that I said that though or I will be watching Stargate every evening)! I enjoy pushing myself out of my comfort zine to read fantasy as well.
In the next coming weeks, I will be discussing several topics (not in order), including:
- ARCs (How to obtain and review)
- How to train your brain to read more than one book at once
- How and where to review a book properly
- Graphic novels (Graphics vs. comics; What is a Graphic Novel)
