Review of “Project Hail Mary” by Andy Weir

Review:

4.5- 5-star review

Summary:

Ryland is on a mission. He cannot remember what the mission is, where he is at, or why he is the only person alive. As his memory starts to come back, he must complete a mission to save the world.

My Thoughts:

The plot was so interesting. I just wanted to keep reading it to see what happened. My husband (who never reads fiction books) read this book and loved it. I was stoked to be able to read a book and discuss it with him.

I think I waited so long to read it, because of its length. I am also not a big sci-fi reader. But this book is a mystery, action-packed adventure. I really enjoyed it.

My husband and I had different opinions on the ending. I loved how it ended, and he did not like it. I will not spoil anything for anyone. But I think if I was discussing in a book group, I have many reasons why I think that the ending was just perfect!

One downfall was all the science jargon. But the author did a great job at filling in the blanks without seeming like he was mansplaining everything. But the jargon and explanations ran a little thin.

The character was very likable and funny too. There were a few quotes in the book that made me laugh out loud! I teared up a bit at the end.

This book does start out slow but picks up rather quickly.

Overall, I really enjoyed the book. Even though it is not my typical genre to read, I enjoyed it.
