Review of “The Dry” by Jane Harper

I am rating this book a4.5- 5 star review.

This story introduces everyone to Det Aaron Falk. He returns to his hometown to attend the funeral of a murdered family of 3. The possible murderer is the dad. He is thought to have killed his entire family but his baby girl. Why on earth would his best friend from childhood kill his family? Did the father kill them all or did someone else do it? The 2nd mystery happened when Falk was a teenager. A girl went missing and is found dead in the river. Was it suicide or did someone kill her? Well, the town all want to pin the “murder” on Falk. Can Falk get to the bottom of both his childhood friends’ deaths?

I love the setting for this book (rural and very dry Australia). I also loved the characters. I thought I had the ending all figured out, and I was all wrong! I read book #2 of the series 1st. But I learned a lot more about Aaron Falk. I also loved having two mysteries in one book! I just really like Jane Harper’s mysteries.

For anyone hating slow burn whodunits, this is not the book for you. I for one loved investgating these cases along with Falk.

The Cover that I read for this book.
