The characters were very well-developed. The characters (for the most part) are likable. It is a typical YA book where the parents are the ones with the issues. But I just wanted more from these characters. There was a lot of potential for this to be a great novel. I just thought it needed something extra. I also thought the romance part lacked chemistry.

The plot was rather slow for me. It was not a page-turner. Usually, with a Dessen book, I fall in love with the characters and want to see how it ends. This was not the case for this book. The pacing was so slow. There was nothing special about this book. If I did not know who wrote this book…I would have never guessed Dessen.

This book was adapted into a Netflix movie. The movie was so slow that I have yet to finish it. But I did complete the book.

It was very well-written. This is one of the reasons why I always go to Dessen’s novels. If you want to read a true Dessen novel, pick up any of her other books.
