ARC Alert: Review of “Beach Read” by Emily Henry

Thank you to Edelweiss and Berkley Publishing for a copy of this ARC. All of the opinions  in this review are my own.

I am giving this novel a 5 star review!

I needed this book right now! It had a cute plot with characters that I related to, and well written.

This story is about two people who reconnect well after college. Both had preconceived ideas of who the other person was and completely different. The one thing that they have in common is that they are both authors and have writer’s block. She writes happy ending romance novels and he writes serious literature that has no happy endings. They both decide for different reasons to move to a small town temporality to write their novels and battle certain past demons. To get each other out of their writer’s block, they decide to bet each other to write from different genres. They end up spending time together as to learn how to write out of their comfort zone, but decide not to get involved with each other romantically. Both are battling demons from their past as well with leads to a more complex plot.

At first, I did not think I would enjoy it as much as I did. Every time that I would lay the book down, I wondered what would happen next. So I would catch myself reading it throughout the day. I recommend this novel for anyone liking rom-coms or just romance. I was hooked from the moment that I picked up the novel. I loved the characters a lot as well.
