Review of “Can You Keep A Secret” by Sophie Kinsella

Overall: 3/5 Stars

Summary of review:

A cliché rom-com with a predicable plot.

Summary:

She is on a plane and dishes all her secrets to a stranger. Little does she know that she meets her company’s CEO and it is none other than the stranger that she dished to on the plane.

He knows secrets about her boyfriend, family, childhood, etc.

As she reflects on the secrets from the plane, she starts to figure out her life. One thing is dumping her boyfriend to only discover love is not far away.

My thoughts:

Unpopular opinion: This is my 2nd book that I have read by this author. Needless to say, it may be a long time to read another one.

This book, for me, was predictable. This author’s books all seem to follow the same format.

If the characters are great, I can typically get past the clichés. But I did not like the main characters or any of the characters for that matter. I thought the main character was an over-the-top airhead.

Needless to say, I almost DNF it several times. But the humor in this book was what made me keep reading it. I did enjoy that part of the book. It was unforgettable. I kept waiting for something to happen. When something did happen, I was underwhelmed.

Conclusion:

If you want a light and easy beach rom-com, then this is the book for you.
