Review of “A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow” by Laura Taylor Namey

Reese Witherspoon’s YA Book Club pick.

I am rating this book a 4 star review.

What a cute story. I enjoyed this book a lot. The characters were adorable.

A young Miami girl, Lila, has kind of a nervous break down; her best friend leaves, her boyfriend and her break up, she loses her grandmother, etc. She ends up going to England to stay with her aunt. At first, she struggles while living in another country and dealing emotionally with what is happening to her life. But she starts making friends and baking her pastries. Needless to say, England may end up not being a bad place for her after all.

The characters were all just great! I loved them plot a lot. A young girl out of her element and making the best out of her situation. She learns that sometimes you need to get away from your problems to solve them. This book was about a lot of things; friendships, family, culture, grief, mental health, etc. I just loved that the book touched on a lot of different things!

I will recommend this book to others!
