Review of “The Couple Next Door” by Shari Lapena

Review:  3.5 to 4 star rating

Summary:

Anne and Marco leave their baby at home to attend the neighbor’s dinner party. They check on the baby every 30 minutes, but the baby is missing. The baby appears to be kidnapped. An investigation starts close to the parents. We learn many secrets as the story unfolds about the parents and the people that surround them. Who could have taken their baby?

My Thoughts:

This read was intense. I read this almost in one sitting. The pacing was quick. The twists and turns about where the baby was also intense. A lot of the chapters ended in cliffhangers. I did enjoy that. My brain had to know more. I just could not put it down.

There was no character that was likable. But how can you like parents who leave their baby at home alone just to attend a party? But also as the secrets start coming to light, the characters start to get a less likeable. The characters were supposed to be intelligent but really made dumb decisions.

When I picked up this book, I knew exactly what I was getting. A fast-paced, twists/turns, badly written paperback. I got just that. The language was simple and to the point.

If you love quick read thrillers with a ton of twists and turns… then this is the book for you.

Sorry this review is rather short….
